PANCASARI, BULELENG, 9 October 2026 — Bali is strengthening collaboration between regional governments to align development priorities, enhance public services and promote sustainable economic growth. These priorities were highlighted at the 2026 Coordination Meeting of Regional Development Planning Agencies (Bappeda) across Bali, held at Handara Golf & Resort Bali in Pancasari, Buleleng. The meeting brought together 160 participants representing all nine regencies and municipalities across the island.
The meeting was officially opened by Dr I Wayan Wiasthana Ika Putra, Head of Bali Province’s Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda), who underlined the importance of sustained cooperation, institutional solidarity and closer alignment between provincial and local development plans. He encouraged regional planning agencies to build on the foundations established by their predecessors and strengthen collaboration to achieve shared development objectives.
He also highlighted the need to align regional priorities with Bali’s development vision, Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali, and Indonesia’s 2025–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN). Effective coordination, evidence-based planning and stronger partnerships with national institutions were identified as key to delivering development programmes and achieving sustainable outcomes.
“Closer collaboration between regional planning agencies and tourism stakeholders can encourage business events to be hosted beyond established tourism centres, creating wider opportunities for local businesses and communities across Bali.”

Addressing Regional Social and Economic Priorities
The meeting addressed several social development priorities, including improving socio-economic data for social protection programmes, reducing stunting and accelerating poverty alleviation.
Accurate data, cross-sector collaboration and ongoing evaluation were highlighted as essential to ensuring that public programmes and resources reach the communities that need them most.
Expanding MICE and Business Events Island-Wide
For Bali’s tourism and business events sector, stronger regional collaboration offers an important opportunity to enhance destination competitiveness and support sustainable growth.
Closer partnerships between government agencies, tourism stakeholders, industry associations and the Bali Convention & Exhibition Bureau (BaliCEB) can help strengthen destination readiness, attract international conferences and incentive programmes, and extend the economic benefits of tourism across the island.
Dr Ketut Jaman, Chairman of BaliCEB, attended the opening ceremony as an observer and highlighted the potential of government-led coordination initiatives to stimulate business events across Bali’s regencies and municipalities.
He noted that stronger collaboration could encourage events to be hosted beyond established tourism centres, create wider opportunities for local businesses and communities, and enable more destinations across Bali to welcome meetings, conferences, incentive programmes and other professional gatherings.
Fostering Long-Term Collaboration Across Regencies
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to maintaining strong institutional relationships and advancing cooperation among regional planning agencies across Bali.
The 2027 coordination meeting is scheduled to take place in Tabanan Regency, continuing this tradition of collaboration and supporting a shared vision for Bali’s sustainable development.
For international event planners and industry associations, these collaborative efforts underline the importance of looking beyond established tourism hubs and exploring the wider range of destinations and opportunities Bali has to offer for business events.
