Buleleng, Bali — Maritime tourism activity in North Bali continues to show strong momentum. Between January and April 2026, a total of ten international cruise ships called at Celukan Bawang Port in Buleleng Regency.

This increase reflects growing global confidence in Bali—particularly North Bali—as an emerging maritime tourism destination. The continued arrival of cruise vessels further reinforces Celukan Bawang’s role as a strategic international gateway to the region.

The cruise season commenced in January with the arrival of MS Celebrity Millennium, MV Regatta, and MV Sirena. The positive trend continued into February with visits from MV Seven Seas Explorer, MV Riviera, MV Azamara Pursuit, alongside a return call by MS Celebrity Millennium. In March, MV Seven Seas Mariner added to the growing list of visiting vessels.

The season concluded in April with the arrival of MV Seven Seas Navigator on 19 April 2026. In total, more than 11,000 passengers and 6,000 crew members visited various destinations across Buleleng and its surrounding areas.

The presence of cruise visitors has delivered tangible benefits to the local economy, supporting sectors such as transportation, guiding services, and small and medium-sized enterprises. This aligns with broader efforts to distribute tourism benefits more evenly beyond South Bali.

North Bali: An Emerging Destination for Corporate Incentive Travel

Beyond its role as a cruise gateway, North Bali offers a diverse range of experiences well suited to corporate incentive travel and group programmes. Highlights include:

  • Diving at Menjangan Island, renowned for its pristine coral reefs and exceptional marine biodiversity.
  • Dolphin watching at Lovina Beach, particularly at sunrise.
  • Exploring Gitgit Waterfall, set within lush tropical surroundings.
  • Visits to clove and coffee plantations in Munduk, offering insight into Bali’s agricultural heritage.
  • Trekking around Lake Tamblingan, including traditional canoe experiences on a serene natural lake.

These experiences position North Bali as a compelling destination for experiential travel, ideal for team-building activities, incentive programmes, and corporate retreats.

From an operational perspective, cruise handling at Celukan Bawang Port is delivered in accordance with international standards, with a strong emphasis on safety, security, and passenger comfort. Coordination among key stakeholders—including port authorities, immigration, customs, quarantine, and security agencies—ensures smooth and efficient operations.

An integrated end-to-end service approach is implemented, covering pre-arrival preparations, on-ground handling, and post-visit services. This reflects an ongoing commitment to enhancing service quality and strengthening Indonesia’s maritime connectivity.

With continued growth in cruise arrivals and a rich portfolio of attractions, North Bali is well positioned to become a key destination for high-quality tourism development, particularly within the international leisure and MICE segments.
