BBTF 2026 Reinforces Indonesia’s Position as a Leading Global Tourism and MICE Destination

NUSA DUA — Indonesia’s premier international travel trade exhibition, the Bali & Beyond Travel Fair (BBTF) 2026, has once again demonstrated its strategic role in connecting global tourism decision-makers with Indonesia’s tourism industry, strengthening international business partnerships and creating new opportunities across the leisure, corporate, and MICE sectors.

Held from 28–30 May 2026 at the Bali International Convention Centre (BICC) in Nusa Dua, Bali, the three-day event brought together tourism professionals, buyers, suppliers, destination representatives, and event specialists from around the world. Over the past decade, BBTF has evolved into one of the most influential travel trade fairs in the Asia-Pacific region and serves as a key gateway for international organisations seeking business and event opportunities throughout Indonesia.

A National Commitment to Global Tourism

The opening ceremony underscored the event’s national significance, with attendance by Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster, alongside senior government officials, tourism industry leaders, and representatives from key tourism associations. Their presence reflected the Indonesian Government’s continued commitment to strengthening the country’s competitiveness within the global tourism and business events marketplace.

Organised by the Bali Chapter of the Association of the Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (ASITA Bali), BBTF 2026 was held under the theme:

“Redefining Indonesia’s Gastronomic Journey: A Celebration of Taste, Cultures, and Sustainable Heritage.”

The theme highlights the growing importance of gastronomy as a driver of high-value tourism, cultural preservation, and sustainable destination development.

Strong International Participation and Structured Business Matching

The 12th edition of BBTF welcomed 407 buyers from 44 countries and 286 sellers representing 13 Indonesian provinces and four countries, reaffirming its position as one of Southeast Asia’s most significant B2B tourism marketplaces. The strong international participation reflects growing global confidence in Indonesia as a destination for tourism, investment, meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions, and special events.

Exhibitors represented a broad cross-section of the tourism industry, including destination management companies (DMCs), hotels and resorts, convention centres, event venues, airlines, transportation providers, tourism boards, cultural attractions, wellness and medical tourism operators, and community-based tourism enterprises. Through structured business appointments, sellers were able to showcase destinations, products, and services directly to qualified international buyers.

Buyers attending BBTF included tour operators, travel agencies, event organisers, wedding planners, corporate travel managers, incentive houses, multinational corporations, and MICE professionals responsible for sourcing destinations and developing international travel and event programmes. Their participation provided valuable opportunities for suppliers to establish long-term commercial partnerships and generate sustainable business growth.

The Pre-Scheduled Appointment (PSA) system at BBTF 2026 creates highly productive meetings and delivers strong commercial outcomes.

A defining feature of BBTF is its Pre-Scheduled Appointment (PSA) system, which enables buyers and sellers to meet according to pre-identified business interests and objectives. This structured approach creates highly productive meetings, improves efficiency, and delivers stronger commercial outcomes compared with conventional exhibition models that rely primarily on spontaneous stand visits.

A Premier Platform for the MICE Sector

For international event planners, association executives, corporate meeting organisers, and incentive travel specialists, BBTF offers a unique platform to evaluate Indonesia’s capabilities as a host destination for meetings, incentive programmes, conferences, exhibitions, destination weddings, corporate retreats, and other large-scale events.

Within a single marketplace, buyers can engage directly with convention centres, hotels, DMCs, unique event venues, event technology providers, and other strategic partners essential to successful event delivery.

Promoting the “Beyond Bali” Vision

Beyond promoting Bali as a world-renowned destination, BBTF continues to advance its long-standing “Beyond Bali” concept, introducing international buyers to the diverse tourism and event opportunities available throughout the Indonesian archipelago. This approach enables planners to explore a wide range of destinations offering cultural experiences, nature-based tourism, marine activities, wellness programmes, gastronomy, and emerging locations suitable for conferences, incentive travel, and corporate events.

The benefits of BBTF extend well beyond individual business transactions. For Bali’s tourism sector, the event provides direct access to international decision-makers, enhances destination visibility, expands global business networks, and strengthens Bali’s position as one of Asia-Pacific’s leading MICE destinations. The economic impact is also felt across supporting sectors, including transportation, hospitality, food and beverage, creative industries, and small and medium-sized enterprises that form part of the wider tourism value chain.

At the national level, BBTF serves as an effective platform for promoting Indonesia’s priority destinations and tourism products to international distribution networks. By facilitating direct engagement between Indonesian suppliers and overseas buyers, the event supports broader efforts to attract high-quality visitors, diversify source markets, and distribute tourism benefits more evenly across the country.

What distinguishes BBTF from many other travel trade events in Southeast Asia is its dedicated focus on Indonesia and its structured business-matching model.

Combined with Bali’s established reputation as one of the world’s most recognised tourism and business events destinations, the fair provides international buyers with an opportunity not only to conduct business meetings but also to undertake first-hand destination inspections and evaluate the quality of Indonesia’s tourism and event infrastructure.

For the global MICE community, BBTF has become an increasingly valuable platform for assessing Indonesia’s suitability as a host for international congresses, association meetings, incentive programmes, corporate gatherings, and trade exhibitions. Direct access to industry stakeholders and destination partners enables planners to make informed decisions based on practical insights and local expertise.

As BBTF 2026 concludes, the event once again demonstrates Indonesia’s growing influence within the global tourism and business events industry. More than a travel trade exhibition, BBTF has become a catalyst for international collaboration, sustainable tourism growth, and long-term business development, strengthening Indonesia’s position as a strategic partner for organisations seeking world-class destinations for travel, meetings, and events across the Asia-Pacific region.
