Denpasar — The Bali Convention and Exhibition Bureau (BaliCEB) is scheduled to officially inaugurate and confirm its executive board for the 2026–2031 term on 5 June 2026. The occasion is regarded as an important milestone in strengthening Bali’s position as an international Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) destination.
Chairman of BaliCEB and Head of the Inauguration Committee, Ketut Jaman, stated that the inauguration represents more than a ceremonial organisational event, describing it as part of a collective effort to enhance Bali’s competitiveness within the global business events industry.
“This is not merely a formal ceremony, but a shared step towards reinforcing Bali’s standing as a world-class MICE destination.”
The press conference, held at The Meru Sanur on Tuesday (26 May 2026), was also attended by BaliCEB Vice Chairman Gede Ardiana, Secretary General Wayan Sugiantara, Advisory Board member Trisno Nugroho, and Senior Advisor Gede Ginaya.
During the event, Ketut Jaman explained that the global MICE industry is entering a new phase of recovery after being severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. According to him, the world has once again recognised the strategic importance of face-to-face meetings as platforms for investment, innovation, collaboration, and international economic diplomacy.
He noted that the global MICE industry is projected to exceed USD 1 trillion in value, with the Asia-Pacific region identified as the fastest-growing market. Countries such as Singapore, Thailand, South Korea, Japan, and Australia continue to strengthen their convention bureaux in order to remain competitive within the global industry.
Against this backdrop, Bali is considered to have significant potential to emerge as a leading international business events destination in the Asia-Pacific region. The island’s rich cultural heritage, renowned hospitality, international connectivity, world-class hospitality facilities, and extensive experience in hosting international events are viewed as key competitive advantages.
However, Ketut Jaman emphasised that global competition within the MICE industry is no longer determined solely by the quality of hotels and convention centres. Destinations are now expected to demonstrate strengths in sustainability, technology, human resources, security, connectivity, and cross-sector collaboration.
For this reason, BaliCEB is regarded as an important collaborative platform bringing together government institutions, the hotel industry, convention centres, professional conference organisers (PCOs), airlines, academics, media, and the wider tourism stakeholder community in Bali.
According to Ketut Jaman, a modern convention bureau serves not only as a promoter, but also as a facilitator, strategic coordinator, and catalyst for destination development. Beyond promoting Bali internationally, BaliCEB will focus on bidding for international events, expanding global networks, strengthening destination branding, enhancing human resource capacity, and generating long-term economic and social benefits for the Balinese community.
Looking ahead, BaliCEB has outlined five strategic priorities:
- Increasing the number of international events hosted in Bali.
- Strengthening Bali’s positioning as a global business events destination.
- Promoting sustainable events and green meetings.
- Expanding international partnerships and networks.
- Strengthening synergy among all industry stakeholders.
In addition to the MICE sector, BaliCEB also supports the development of Bali as a world-class wellness tourism destination rooted in local culture and wisdom. The integration of wellness tourism and business events is believed to provide a new competitive advantage for Bali in attracting international conferences, corporate retreats, incentive travel programmes, and global forums centred on sustainability and well-being.
Meanwhile, BaliCEB Advisory Board member Trisno Nugroho stated that BaliCEB’s direction aligns closely with the tourism development priorities of both the Ministry of Tourism and the Provincial Government of Bali.
“One of the most effective ways to attract high-quality visitors is through MICE. The presence of BaliCEB will help facilitate the organisation of international events in Bali.” — Trisno Nugroho, BaliCEB Advisory Board member
He further described Bali as one of the world’s best MICE destinations because of its unique ability to combine business and leisure experiences within a single destination. According to him, Bali possesses extraordinary untapped potential that can further strengthen its position within the global business events sector.
The inauguration of the BaliCEB executive board for the 2026–2031 period is expected to mark the beginning of stronger collaboration among stakeholders in positioning Bali not only as a world-renowned tourism destination, but also as a centre for international collaboration, knowledge exchange, and world-class business events.
