DENPASAR — Bali’s aspiration to become one of the world’s leading wellness destinations was showcased at the Global Hindu Business Conference (GHBC) 2026, where Dr. Ketut Jaman, Chairman of the Bali Convention & Exhibition Bureau (BaliCEB), presented Bali’s integrated approach to wellness tourism before an international audience at Universitas Hindu Indonesia (UNHI) on 11 July 2026.
The conference, held from 10–12 July 2026, brought together business leaders, policymakers, academics, and entrepreneurs from across Asia and beyond under the theme “Towards Dharmanomics: Designing the Future.”
In his presentation, “Bali: Building an Integrated Wellness Ecosystem Towards a Global Wellness Destination,” Dr. Jaman emphasized that Bali’s future competitiveness lies in its ability to combine cultural heritage, holistic wellbeing, sustainable tourism, and healthcare innovation into a single, integrated ecosystem. He explained that as global demand for wellness travel continues to grow, Bali possesses unique strengths that distinguish it from other destinations, particularly through its rich spiritual traditions, authentic cultural experiences, and internationally recognized hospitality industry.
The Foundation of Tri Hita Karana
Dr. Jaman highlighted that the Balinese philosophy of Tri Hita Karana—the harmony between people, nature, and the Divine—provides the foundation for the island’s wellness identity.
Rather than viewing wellness as a commercial product, Bali offers authentic experiences deeply embedded in daily life, including yoga, meditation, traditional healing, herbal medicine, purification rituals (melukat), and community-based cultural activities that nurture physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing.
Modern Wellness Infrastructure & Collaboration
He also outlined the rapid development of Bali’s modern wellness infrastructure, including internationally accredited hospitals, preventive healthcare services, aesthetic medicine, wellness resorts, longevity centres, and the Sanur Special Economic Zone (KEK Sanur), which is expected to become Indonesia’s flagship destination for integrated medical and wellness tourism.
These developments, he noted, complement Bali’s traditional healing heritage while strengthening the island’s position within the rapidly expanding global wellness economy. According to Dr. Jaman, building a world-class wellness destination requires collaboration across multiple sectors.
He underscored the important role played by government institutions, healthcare providers, universities, tourism businesses, professional associations, investors, and local communities in creating a sustainable wellness ecosystem that supports innovation, research, investment, and high-quality visitor experiences.
Introducing the Bali Wellness & Beauty Expo 2027
During the session, Dr. Jaman also introduced the Bali Wellness & Beauty Expo (BWB Expo) as one of Bali’s flagship international business platforms for the wellness industry.
The Expo continues to connect governments, healthcare institutions, wellness operators, hospitality businesses, researchers, investors, buyers, and technology providers from around the world, reinforcing Bali’s growing reputation as a regional hub for wellness innovation and investment.
Delegates attending GHBC 2026 were officially invited to participate in the upcoming Bali Wellness & Beauty Expo 2027, scheduled for 4–6 June 2027 at the Bali Beach Convention Center, Sanur.
A Long-Term Vision for BaliCEB
As Chairman of BaliCEB, Dr. Jaman reaffirmed the bureau’s commitment to promoting Bali as a premier destination for international meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions, and wellness tourism. He emphasized that strategic collaboration between the public and private sectors will be essential in strengthening Bali’s global competitiveness while ensuring that tourism development continues to generate sustainable economic, social, and environmental benefits.
His participation at GHBC 2026 further demonstrated BaliCEB’s active role in promoting Bali’s strengths on international platforms and fostering partnerships that support the island’s long-term vision as a leading global destination for wellness, business events, and sustainable tourism development.
